Thread peeling

Reliable thread machining

The entire range of options

Thread peeling differs from thread whirling, particularly in regard to the machine technology. The high rigidity and damping of the machine bed, along with the solid peeling head in conjunction with sliding guides allow both hard and soft materials to be peeled with high precision. This machine concept also allows the latest cutting materials to be used for dry machining.

This method is therefore ideal for producing ball screws from raw materials that have already been hardened.

Advantages over whirling:

  • Can be used for hard machining of induction-hardened material
  • Very good surfaces on the thread flanks, exceeding the achievable grinding quality
  • Longer tool service life
  • Hard-to-machine materials can be processed
